ISLAMABAD: Students of Institute of Information Technology (UIIT), Pir Mehr Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) displayed variety of unique projects in a day-long Open House held at its Rawalpindi campus Wednesday.
Member Human Resource Division (HRD) Dr Riaz HussainQureshi, while visiting the open house appreciated the efforts of the students and said, "Students are the future of our country and they must be provided such platforms to exhibit their innovative skills and abilities".
Dr Riaz was also given a detailed briefing about the projects of the students and working of the UIIT by the university' officials.
Over 42 projects were displayed by the students of various disciplines including BSCS, MCS, MIT, MS (CS) and PGD-CS.
The purpose of organising this event was to provide an opportunity to the students to show their abilities as well as bridge the gap between industries and academics, enabling students to understand market trends.
The software projects are integral component of every computing related degree through which students can showcase the software solutions to resolve issues of real life problems.
University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) is a budding institute, established in July 2001 as Centre for Information Technology, a department of University of Arid Agriculture, Rawalpindi (UAAR).
In May 2006 it has been elevated from Centre to the level of University Institute. UIIT is offering BSCS, MCS, MIT, MS(CS) and PGD-CS programmes.
Three batches of MIT, two batches of MCS, two batches of BSCS and one batch of MS(CS) have already graduated and all of the graduates have settled in the industry and many have found opportunities for higher education.
